This is the Blind Tiger’s First Annual Farm to Bar Festival!

Wanting to jump aboard the locavore bandwagon, this Sunday, beginning at 12:00PM, the Blind Tiger will be offering a special Harvest Food Menu, featuring ingredients from Vermont’s Fable Farm, along with some farm-centric beers added to our draught list.

The folks from Fable Farm are bringing down a truckload of freshly slaughtered pork, root veggies, bread, cheese, and cider from the Green Mountain State, along with a keg of beer they made from their own beets. Christopher, Jon, Justin, Brook and Jessie, run a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) in Barnard, VT, (you can see pictures of their farm at fablefarm.blogspot.com) and now that the growing season is over, they’re ready to party in the city.

Chef James O’Brien is putting together a special’s menu using Fable Farm ingredients, which we’ll be serving a la cart from 12:00PM onwards (as long as the food lasts). His menu will include:
- Pumpkin Barley Soup with Bacon
- Roasted Blue Hubbard Squash, Arugula, Farmhouse Feta, Pumpkin Seed, and Apple Salad.
- Apple Braised Pork (from On the Edge Farm) with Farmhouse Slaw on a Parker House Roll

AND, to wash down all the great food, Alan as gathered what he’s calling his Green Acres Beer List:
- Smuttynose Oak Aged Farmhouse (the only one of its kind in NYC)
- Sierra Harvest  (Wet Hopped)
- Pretty Things Jack D’Or (a Farmhouse Ale)
- Dupont Avril (a Table Saison)
- Saint Somewhere Saison (a Saison Saison)
- Houblon Chouffe (a Hoppy Saison)
- Anchor Holiday (a classic Holiday Ale)

There will also be some free Vermont cheddar from the award winning Neighborly Farms – available @ 3:00PM.

And if you still need an extra boost, Jessie will be sampling out some of her house made herbal concoctions, including her much sought after aphrodisiac…which we probably don’t want you drinking until after you leave the Tiger (Kevin and Irish Mike in particular)

So stop by this Sunday for the Blind Tiger’s First Annual Farm to Bar Festival and help the folks from Fable Farm celebrate the fall harvest in style.
